Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

I am not on any insurance panels. However, many insurance plans will reimburse you for therapy. I am considered an out of network provider and I can give you the paperwork you would need to submit. You would pay me the full fee and submit the paperwork to your insurance for reimbursement. You would need to contact your insurance company to find out about your coverage.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

I do, but currently all of my slots are full.

How do I start?

Call or email me to set up an initial free 15 minute phone consultation.

How often will we meet for therapy?

When we first speak we will assess your needs. Usually we start with meeting once a week for 50 minutes. Sometimes we might decide that more or less frequency is best.

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

I believe that finding the right fit with a therapist is key for the work. A good connection often allows the work to move more quickly and easily. Trust yourself, take your time, often we have a good sense of what feels right. I too will be assessing if I believe I am a good fit and can provide the help you need. Sometimes it takes a few appointments to figure this out and it is ok if either of us decide it isn’t the right match.

Do you do virtual or in person appointments?

Currently I do both in person and virtual appointments. If we work together this is something we will discuss before we begin. I can work with clients residing anywhere in California. For consultation, I can work with anyone in the United States.

What will I talk about in therapy?

When we first meet we can talk about whatever feels most important to you. Together we will explore what is bringing you in. If you're not sure where to start, we can work together to figure out what we will focus on. You don't have to talk about anything you don't want to.

What happens in therapy?

Therapy is a process of growth and transformation. It is a place where you can bring whatever you need. Therapy is a process in which change is happening through an experience together, that includes thoughts, feelings, and somatic awareness and new ways of knowing. Often we need to access what we feel and process it, in order for deeper change to occur.

How long does therapy last?

Therapy is something you can end at anytime. You'll know when the time is right. You'll find you have internalized the therapy process so that it's become part of how you are and how you take care of your needs. There is no set length of time. It will evolve naturally as we work together.

What kinds of issues do you work with people on?

Some, but not all, of the common issues I work with people on are: relationships, attachment, trauma, family of origin, life transitions, work, depression, anxiety, substance use/abuse, grief and loss, parenting, body image and liberation, sex, communication, behavior changes, gender non conforming and transgender identity, intersectionality in identity, racial identity and unlearning racism with white identified people, and preparation and integration for Psychedelic assisted therapy.

What types of couples do you work with?
